2025-26 Dress Code

Students at St. Andrew Catholic School are required to wear school uniforms. If uniforms are not within acceptable guidelines, the student will be required to change, or a parent/guardian will be called to obtain suitable attire. The final judgement on the appropriateness or if a uniform meets the school standards rests with the administration of St. Andrew Catholic School.

School uniforms and accessories must be purchased from Matteo Graphics at 160 Hunter Blvd. Suite A1, Cape Coral, FL 33909. 239-652-1002.

When purchasing uniform pieces, please allow for growth in the course of the year. Purchase items so that they will still be of an appropriate length and size for school when the year ends. Uniform pieces, especially skorts and shorts must not be too tight or too short (no shorter than three (3) inches above the knee), not rolled up, and appropriate for the Catholic School environment.

Uniforms should always be neat. Torn, ripped or dirty uniforms are unacceptable at school. Students are not permitted to roll up their waist bands or have undergarments visible. Students must wear pants/shorts at waist level with a plain black, brown, beige, or navy blue belt. Shirts are to be tucked in (not folded under) and belts/waistbands must be visible. Uniform shirts must be tucked in upon arrival at school and until after students leave the campus. Uniform shirt sleeves are not to be rolled and undershirts may not hang below the shirt sleeve.

Outerwear

Quarter-zip Dri-Fit Jacket / Full-zip Fleece Jacket / Crew neck sweatshirts with NO HOODS (Green, Navy, or Grey) are logo-optional. No other colors, designs, or logos are permitted. Sweaters and crewneck sweatshirts (no hoods) zip or pullover, are permitted for the upcoming school year.

Note: Uniform shirts and bottoms must be worn under sweaters and sweatshirts/sweatpants.

Cold Weather: On extreme weather days, students may wear outerwear which deviates from the dress code entering and exiting school. Girls may wear solid dark green, navy, black, or white color tights under their shorts or skorts to school on cold days. No patterns or other colors are permitted.

Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts: Students in these groups are permitted to wear their troop uniform instead of the school uniform on their meeting days unless it falls on a Mass day.

Jewelry

Girls may wear one pair of small post earrings not larger than a dime; no hoops or dangling earrings for safety purposes. Boys are not permitted to wear earrings. Students may wear a watch that is not a smartwatch and one bracelet. Students may wear one small ring. Students may wear a cross or religious pendant on a small metal chain. No other necklaces are permitted.

Piercings

Body piercings are not appropriate for school (with the exception of one pair of earrings for girls).

Nail Polish and Tattoos

Students are not allowed to wear nail polish of any kind. Fake nails are not permitted. Tattoos, temporary or permanent, are not acceptable for students at school. Students are not to write on their bodies, clothing, or shoes at school.

Make-up

Students are not permitted to wear make-up at school. This includes, but is not limited to, tinted moisturizer or tinted sunscreen, lip gloss of any kind (clear or tinted), mascara of any kind (clear or tinted), brow gel of any kind (clear or tinted). Perfume, cologne or scented body sprays are discouraged, due to potential student allergies, and are never allowed to be brought to school. Acne patches in flesh tones only are permitted; colored or decorative acne patches are not permitted.

Boys Hair

Hair must be neat at all times and must remain its natural color. Hair must not be touching eyebrows, ears, or top of the shirt collar. Boys are not permitted to wear their hair in a bun. No designs may be shaved into hair. Students are not permitted to have mohawks or fauxhawks or shaved designs. Haircut and hairstyle should not be a distraction to learning. Final approval is at the discretion of the administration.

Shaving: Young men are to be clean-shaven each day. Sideburns should not extend lower than the earlobe or extend toward the cheek. Young men found to be in violation of this policy will be sent home.

Girls Hair

Hair must be neat at all times and must remain its natural color. Simple hair bands or bows in approved student colors (navy, green or grey) are permitted. Unacceptable hair accessories include, but are not limited to, hair wraps (beads, etc.), hair extension pieces, or oversized bows. No scarves, ties, etc. may be worn as headbands. Bandanas/kerchiefs are not permitted. Extreme haircuts are not permitted. Haircut and style should not be a distraction to learning.

Shoes

Appropriate athletic sneakers are to be worn daily. Athletic sneaker color must be white, all black, or a combination of white and black. No slip on shoes (Vans, Hey Dudes, etc.) are permitted. Laces should be white or black. Light up shoes, or shoes with wheels are not allowed. Black or white ankle socks should be worn. No-show and knee socks are not allowed. (PreK3-K may wear athletic shoes with Velcro.)

Spirit Shirt Days

Uniform shorts, skorts or pants are to be worn with the spirit shirt. Spirit shirt days will be every Friday beginning in September. Shirts with the St. Andrew logo are permitted on spirit shirt days. This does not include uniform PE shirts. These are for PE only. Spirit wear can be purchased online from Matteo Graphics, Spiritwear and is available year-round.

Out-of-Uniform Days / Free Dress Pass Days and Field Trips

Students must be dressed appropriately as defined by the theme of the day. Jeans, appropriate length shorts, or pants may be worn. Any clothing that is ripped, torn or frayed in any manner is unacceptable. Appropriate fitting tops. No form fitting clothing. No leggings or jeggings. Students must dress appropriately for the Catholic School environment and not distract from learning. No tank tops, open-toed shoes, or heels may be worn.

Dress Code at School Sponsored Events/Activities

All students are expected to dress in a neat, clean manner and conform to standards of modesty and decency in their dress while at all school events (both on and off campus). The final decision in determining appropriate dress shall rest with the Administration. Failure to adhere to established dress expectations may result in disciplinary action and/or being sent home from the event.

Items That Are Never Acceptable at School for Any Occasion

  • Short shorts are not permitted at any time for school events or functions either on or off campus.
  • Low rise jeans or skin tight jeans, jeans with holes or tears.
  • Any clothing that is ripped, torn, or with holes.
  • Leggings, jeggings.
  • Low cut, sheer, or sleeveless tops.
  • Spaghetti straps, crop tops, mid drift shirts.
  • Inappropriate logos, slogans, or designs.
  • Skirts or dresses that are form fitting.
  • Flip flops, slides, slippers, and "Croc" style footwear.
  • Items of clothing that aren't consistent with the Catholic School Environment.

IF IN DOUBT ABOUT CLOTHING, the student should bring a change of clothing to school. Infractions of the dress code will result in parents being called to provide proper clothing. Exceptions from the standard dress code may be made for good reason and must be requested in writing. The decision of the administration about the appropriateness of clothing, accessories and hair styles will be final.
